Original Kurzfassung:
Web-based tourism information systems usually manage large
amounts of heterogeneous and complex tourism information
and products, thus running the risk of disorientation and
cognitive overhead. To prevent these problems, hypermedia
design patterns can be employed, dealing with the unique
characteristics of tourism information and products like
intangibility and information intensity. This paper aims at
exploring hypermedia design patterns for the tourism domain,
using Tiscover, a generic platform for Web-based tourism
information systems as basic research vehicle. The paper
investigates differences to other application domains and
discusses the integration of hypermedia design patterns into the
three access paradigms supported by Tiscover comprising
various navigation facilities, structural search and text retrieval.
