This contribution deals with the symbolic derivation of the dynamics of a general class of nonlinear electrical networks. Thereby a geometric formulation of the equations is chosen in order to allow an easy change of the coordinate system. Furthermore, in the modelling procedure also the topological relationship of the network is used by a suitable partitioning of the fundamental loop and cutset matrices. We further give the conditions for the existence of a mixed potential function in the sense of Brayton-Moser, and we discuss the possibilities and the restrictions for its explicit construction.
