Original Kurzfassung:
The use of resonating AT-cut quartz discs operated in thickness shear mode (TSM) for measuring the viscosity-density product of liquids is well established in research. In this contribution we report on the utilization of TSM sensors for monitoring the synthesis of zeolites, in our case silicalite-1. The highly conductive environment represented by the starting solutions forming the basis for zeolite synthesis poses a severe problem when using fully immersed TSM sensors. Thus an adequate design was devised. Furthermore, the general suitability of TSM sensors for the monitoring of phase transitions is discussed and demonstrated by an in-situ measurement of a sample process.
