Englische Kurzfassung:
Architectures of knowledge management systems have typically been centralized client/server solutions. Shortcomings of centralized KMS include costs, restricted focus, and lack of integration of personal workspaces. The focus of centralized KMS is typically restricted by organizational boundaries, because of organization-specific ontologies and insufficient integration of heterogeneous infrastructures. The peer-to-peer metaphor has been used for various application domains including file sharing, messaging, and collaboration. We propose a pure peer-to-peer environment for knowledge management that can be used to overcome the limitations of centralized KMS.
