To be competitive, machine manufacturers must guarantee high-quality products at high output rates for a wide variety of materials and a wide range of processingparameters. Maintaining product quality while increasing the throughput requires that the material-machine interaction be considered. We report on the influence of process, machine and material parameters on polymer melt quality, illustrated using selected examples from the film and pipe industry.
