We performed a numerical study of the effects of cohesive forces on the formation and stability of
cavities or holes in the die filling process. Through experimental evidence we depicted formation of
holes in regions near the die walls. In a second step we simulated material pouring in a die filling
varying process variables (shaking and pouring) and material properties (cohesion and particle size).
We applied discrete element method to simulate particle pouring process combined with a Monte
Carlo integration methodology to calculate the porosity with time. Results showed a correlation
between material properties and shaking mode to obtain a dense packing.
