Interference Mitigation in LTE-CA FDD Based on Mixed-Signal Widely Linear Cancellation

We propose a novel mixed-signal-based widely linear interference cancellation architecture for LTE carrier aggregation FDD transceivers. The system targets modulated spur interference, including main and image components and second order inter-modulation distortion. This architecture senses interference via an auxiliary analog path, and generates a reference signal for a widely linear based digital cancellation. A demonstrator, realized in 28nm LP CMOS, is shown which is able to cancel blocker induced modulated spurs and second order inter-modulation distortion to the noise floor.
