Seen from history of science, Karen Barad is shifting the framework of relativity of knowledge production in quantum physics to a framework of relationality connecting the "second quantum revolution" to feminist epistemology. Seen from a perspective of gender studies, Karen Barad makes a claim to go beyond Judith Butler?s approach of performativity of gender in that she includes material sciences into a gender studies research perpective in a post-humanist manner. She suggests with her approach of agential realism an understanding of matter as a dynamic intra-active becoming. The paper discusses in what way this will shift - or diffract - our understanding of knowledge production.
