Original Kurzfassung:
Succinic acid is a promising bio-based platform chemical for different applications. The state of the art of bio-based succinic acid production proceeds via fermentation of starch glucose. Another option is to gain succinic acid direct from streams of Pulp and Viscose industry, thereby avoiding the use of edible resources to provide platform chemicals. A promising method for the separation process is nanofiltration.
Influence of caustic (NaOH) concentration (1-5 mol/l), succinic acid concentration (0.1-0.6 mol/l) and temperature (30 or 40 °C) on the retention (succinic acid and NaOH) and flux are investigated. As nanofiltration membrane the NP030 from Microdyn Nadir is used. Experimental data are analysed by using the Spiegler and Kedem model for NaOH and succinic acid retention.
