Digital badges and micro-credentials are novel means for learners to showcase that they have attained certain skills. They can be a complement to existing types of learning credentials and have the potential of allowing for more flexible learning paths on the way towards lifelong learning. As the landscape of skills interesting to learners and employers can change drastically over time, a constant process of feedback and evaluation is needed in order for offered digital badges to stay relevant to their target audience. The Institute of Digital Business (IDB) at JKU is currently creating a series of badges that are supposed to capture skills related to digitalization which could be helpful for learners and employers. Using these badges as pilot badge implementations, a first round of feedback is supposed to be collected amongst learners and employers throughout the summer of 2022. Based on this initial discourse, which will include a survey amongst members of the alumni network of the JKU and subsequent interviews, it will not only be assessed whether employers are interested in badges in general, but also whether and how they would like to get involved in a trust network for digital badges. The available results of this process will be presented at the conference and a call will be issued to share experiences and learnings from similar processes at other institutions.
