Report on redesign of classical introductory mathematics courses on bachelor level (economics, business informatics).Manifold challenges for teaching mathem. in these study programs: mathem. is not the main focus/interest of students, very diverse level of mathem. knowledge/skill,students do not spend sufficient time with mathem.,loose track during semester, high ratio of part-time employed students (temporal/spatial inflexibility).Math courses were designed origin. as 3-ECTS-lecture with 90-min. written exam.Due to limited resources conc. teaching personnel + high participant numbers we count on automation+digitalization:video recordings of entire lecture, change from classical lecture to flipped classroom mode (separate videos for examples/theory,thematical slices of maximal duration of 20 min).Content divided into six consecutive modules each consisting of asynchronous self-study of theory videos, asynchr. self-study doing exercises from a collection, asynchr. self-assessment based on online tests with autom. feedback + fully autom. grading, one synchronous online question-and-answer unit (teacher answers concrete questions),a 15-minute online exam.We have put considerable effort into a transparent + fair grading scheme with possibility to re-do one of the six exams in order to compensate for missed first-try,e.g.,due to illness, etc.( best five of the six exams go into final grade).New:"peer learning" (weight 10% in final grade):each group of students is connected to one module.Every student has to do a written presentation of one example + give feedback to two presentations of colleagues (points can be earned).Add. bonus points for self-assessments (can be repeated arbitrarily often with the best result counted).Positive side-effect:while on the hunt for bonus points, students spend more time with mathem.,better prep. for exams, reduced drop-out during the semester.Having all exams graded fully autom. allows assistants to engage in tasks like designing autom. tests.
