We discuss what a polynomial over commutative rings, over rings, over groups, etc. is, and the same for polynomial functions. The correspondence between these two concepts and were discussed. Polynomials give rise to (systems of) equations over algebraic structures. Corresponding results were presented, some of which look very surprising.
